TWO TRICKS
Sometimes, if we are forechecking really well and frustrating a team by pinning them in their zone, they will intentionally ice the puck to get a whistle. Our goaltender, if he thinks we are not equally tired, can surprise the other team by playing the puck before it crosses the goal line, thereby preventing the icing call. He then passes it up to our skaters, who will continue the attack against a confused team. You can sometimes pass to our
goaltender and let him pass back to another player. This opens another
route out of our zone if we are being forechecked. It depends on
the willingness and ability of our goaltender to take on this responsibility.
Use it with care, because other teams catch on quickly.
